After the recent shocking asault and rape of two tourists and the rape and robbery of a resident woman here in Sharm, women living here are becoming increasingly afraid. One of the big issues is the lack of support for victims and the lack of experienced people in authority to take charge of these asaults. It has been suggested anyone who is interested in trying to set up a support structure for victims show their interest in attending a meeting. The aim would be to enlist the support of the local council, police, hospital and lawyer who will set up a procedure to help the victims as they are not encouraged to report these asaults. We cannot keep "sweeping this issue under the carpet" and hope it will go away. The attacks are increasing and the perpitrators need to know they will be punished when caught.
